bullets on the right in slide master

I am an IT tutor and recently one of my students submitted a test paper for
marking. One of the questions on the paper was to add bullet points to a
slide. All the learner had to do was change the slide layout to "Title and
text" which he did, but the bullets appear to the right of the bullet point
and not the left. I asked him what he did and he can't remember.

Help on this one would be much appreciated

Perhaps he (maybe inadvertently) changed the language of the textbox.

Maybe it is a language issue, check your language in Tools - language, see
what it is set to, is it some foreign language then choose English (US) and
see it that helps.

Thank for your reply Luc.

The language is set to English (UK) which is correct. On investigating
further it is the same in the master slide and also on the bullet and numbers
icon on the toolbar.

The numbers icon looks like this:

Apposed to

WHich it should be.

If you have support for Arabic or Hebrew installed (not selected just
installed) an extra menu item appears in format menu which enables this
effect (paragraph direction). If enabled the right bullets will show on other
machines without these languages enabled. You can enable Arabic in Start> All
Progs>MSoft Office > Office Tools> Language Settings
