bullets on placeholders - when changed to numbers reverts to bulle

we're trying to remove this bug from our placeholders. when we replace the
bullets with numbers, save the presentation, the numbers are still in place.
after closing powerpoint and reopening the saved presentation, the numbers
are back to bullets.

what are we missing??? pls help!

Are you using PPT 2003? If so, there's a bug with multiple masters that
could be affecting this. There are a couple of workarounds I'm happy to go
into if you'll confirm your version.
