bullets are too close to text

When I make a bulleted list, the bullets are too close to the text. I have
control over numbers, but not bullets. Does anyone know how to fix this
without increasing all the spacing between words or letters?

1. Use graphic bullets.
2. Use CSS style to control the style fo the bullet. See examples at:
