Bullets and Paragaphs

I have a number of pages with letters bullets and paragraphs that are
indented and want to change various paragraphs indents as well as
renumbering them.

Every time I highlight a number of these paragraphs to change them at
one time to make my changes, it changes the whole document.

When I get some of these changes to work the way I want it, I few lines
are indenting more than I want it to be.

How do I fix the problem where the whole document does not change and I
get the paragraph and bullets to line up?

Also, when I made the change, I have a huge white space of almost a 1/4
page from the last regular paragraph to start of the bullets. Any reason
for this?

I have got one section to work the way I want it to do, but every time I
try changing parts either about or below it, every things gets change.

If I use the a) as my sub list for each 1.1.xx, it continues to carryon
with the last figure used in the above section even thou I have
highlight to start from a) again.

If I go to a 1.1.xx line and renumber it, everything becomes 1.1.xx
including the entire sub list.

This is what I have now:
Page is setup for 1" borders;

Paragraph set to .3 with hanging at .55
Bullet is 1.1.xx set to alignment .3 indent .85
There is no line space after each paragraph.

What I want is to change some of these paragraphs to:

Paragraph set to .0 with hanging at .5
Bullet is 1.1.xx set to alignment .3 indent .85
Paragraph set to .5 with hanging at .5
Bullet is 1.1.xx set to alignment .5. indent .1.

It should look like this:

Shauna provided with you the answers you need to resolve this, but the
issue you encountered has been happening to many Word users and we'd
like to try to get to the bottom of why it occurs.

Would you mind answering some questions for us?

- Did you recently use any templates? If so what were they and where
did you obtain them?

- Take a look under Tools/Templates and Add-in. Are there any global
templates in the list? If so, what are they?

- Create a new document and open the Style drop down on the Formatting
toolbar. What styles do you have in the list?

- Did you recently install any new software? If so what?

Any answers you can provide will help us out a lot!

Thanks!

[...] I have a huge white space of almost a 1/4
page from the last regular paragraph to start of the bullets. Any
reason for this?

Two suggestions:

1. Put the cursor in the paragraph immediately before the first
bullet. Choose Format>Paragraph. Click the Indents and Spacing tab.
What is the value for "Space After"? If it's huge, decrease it to an
appropriate value. Of course, you can choose 0 (zero) if you don't
want any at all. When you are done, click OK. Repeat for the first
bulleted paragraph, but for this paragraph, look for any Space Before.

If you are using styles, make the desired modificiations directly in
the style definition(s), via the Modify Style dialog box.

2. Another possible reason is that you have the vertical alignment set
to "Justified". To check this, choose File>Page Setup. Click the
Layout tab. Make sure that "Vertical alignment" is set to "Top", and
click OK.
