Bullet points not behaving

Ok, simple issue but big frustration. Bullet points in Word 2003 are not
behaving. The first bullet point functions perfectly, hit ENTER and it
creates a second bullet point... but when you tab in, the text moves, but the
bullet point stays locked in the original position. I've reset the bullet
gallery info... but how do I get it back to the way it's supposed to function?

Without knowing the styles in use it is difficult to say whether Word is
behaving as intended or not. If you want to ensure your document is laid out
as you intend, use or create and use bulleted paragraph styles.

Here is an example of what i'm talking about. I tried looking under the
bulleted paragraph styles, but i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

One other thing... as of a week ago, everything was working perfectly. Now...
those aren't working. Strangely enough, the "grid lines" on my file and
mailing label templates aren't showing up either... but that's in another
post.

Here are two things that might help.

(1) Go to "Format > Auto Format > Options... > AutoCorrect " and change the
mark in the box for "Set Left- and First-Indent with tab and backspace.

(2) Use "Increase Indent" button instead of tab to move bullet and text
right.

The gridlines issue - table > show gridlines. It's a simple toggle setting.

Thanks for the help guys, but neither worked. Tried the auto correct, tried
the Styles, nothing worked. I ended up doing a repair/restore and that fixed
ALL of my issues at once.

As a note (I did note this on my other post about the grid lines)... the
grid I(and I assume the original poster) are refering to is slightly
different than the gridlines in a table. When I did the "show gridlines", I
was prompted to do grid lines like in excel... where I can choose
top/bottom/etc. Those grid lines help... but they print. The grid lines i'm
speaking of appear when doing labels, or on the Avery.com templates that
allow you to "see" each individual label's position on the document.

Either way... it's fixed. Thanks for the help and thought!

All hail Office 2003... Resistance is Futile... but expensively upgradable!

The configurable grid lines are not gridlines but cell borders! Gridlines
are non-printing.
