Best bet is to buy a motherboard that includes a detailed manual.
EVERYTHING connects to the motherboard. A good motherboard will have step
by step instructions for building a computer, in the included user's guide.
About the only thing the motherboard manual won't cover is physically
mounting the power supply and physically mounting the drives in the case.
But those tasks are usually self-explanatory. While I suggest you do NOT
use a power supply that comes with a case, just about all cases include one
(junk). So you will see how the power supply that you WILL purchase
separately should be mounted. It's held in with four screws, nothing to it.
Your power supply should come with instructions anyway (not that you should
need them). The drives are also easy. Some cases have drive rails that
need to be screwed onto the sides of the drives, and then the drives just
slide into the case. Most cases, the drives just mount with 2 - 4 screws.
You can easily figure it out by trial and error, in no time at all.

Again, the information you need (that can't be figured out easily) will be
in a GOOD motherboard user's guide. Bonus is, most of these are available
to download online in PDF format from the motherboard manufacturer's
website. So you can preview the manual before you decide what mainboard to
purchase. Example follows. -Dave

Note how the above has detailed, ILLUSTRATED instructions for building a
computer, step by step (see chapter 2)

The above manual is for the following retail product, which would be a
fantastic board to use, btw:

Some ATX cases have no screws at all!
Brought with me one of those from Europe in a suitcase.
Best of all the price was right: $100
