Will build 5472.5 be made available to people in the preview program? I'm
asking because I've been experiencing frequent (2 a day) BSODs with beta 2.
I'd read on technet or another tech blog / site that the newer build appears
appreciably faster and more stable than the current beta build.

No. The path for the CPP is Build 5384 and then RC1. Updates are build
specific and do not upgrade one build to another.

If that's the case--bummer. The current beta 2 build hasn't been a good
experience for me.

Have you looked into why you having the bsod? Could be a simple explanation
like dodgy video drivers or something.
How long have you been using Vista before you got the blue screens? Did you
install a program a couple of days ago which may be related?

You need to be either a Microsoft Windows Vista Technical Beta Tester (On
Microsoft Connect) or an MSDN Subscriber (OS Level and Up) in order to get
access to the New Build (The New Build will soon be available on MSDN
Subscriber Download's, it can take as little as 1-2 Extra Day's to as much
as 1-4 Extra Weeks for the Download to appear on MSDN Subscriber
Download's), just FYI.

It Will Soon be Released to MSDN Subscriber's (OS Level and Higher), Just
FYI.

Or a member of TAP...
