I have access 2003 (11.5614.5606) and there seems to be bugs in it. Has
anyone ever had or heard of the database window freezing up, where if it
opens with "query or any other object" selected under "objects" you have to
clink on table or anouther object and then go back to queries otherwise it
freezes up with "queries" and wont let you select a particular query in the
collection. Same sort of thing happens in the relaitionship window with
tables and with "step in" when editing code).

Yes, I have unloaded and reloaded the software.

Are there any updates that will fix this problem

Many Thanks

I have had something similar in Access 2000 for over a year now and now it's
in 2003. Only difference is when I grab the top bar and move it everything
is back to normal.

I have not experienced anything like you did. However, I noticed the file
version you used has been superceded. I am not entirely sure my version is
the latest but my file version no is 11.6566.6568 (Access SP2).

Suggest you apply all SPs to your Access installation as well as the OS.

I have experienced something similar in Access 2003 on Windows XP.

Especially in query design and in the Relationships window, Access seems to
get confused about what you are clicking on, so if you click on a table or
scrollbar, nothing happens. In the Relationships window, you can usually
click in the middle of the table to select one of the fields, but the table
title bar and edges are effectively unselectable. It's worse if you have
scrolled the Relationship window (even if you have also scrolled back
again.)

This seems to be an error in the way Access interprets the mouse clicks
passed to it by Windows XP. You can solve the problem completely by changing
your Windows XP Theme to "Windows Classic", though you might not enjoy the
way it looks. Right-click the Windows desktop and choose Properties. The
themes are on the first tab.

The problem still exists even with the latest patches.

That's probably why I never experienced this: I have the Windows XP theme
and switch to Windows Classic on every computer I use.

If you simply turn off themes, the select problem goes away.....

You can find this option in ms-access under:

tools->options->forms/reports

uncheck the "use themed controls on forms"
