I'm running XP Professional, and it reboots seemingly randomly. The event log says it rebooted from a bugcheck, the most recent of which was 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0x70804f5b, 0xed850b88, 0x00000000).

Another recent one was 0x0000007f (0x0000000d, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

What is causing this? Thanks,

Bob McGovern

Random reboots usually indicate a hardware failure. Start by testing the
RAM with a tool like Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com). Let the tool run
for a long time, like all day or overnight (unless you see errors right
away, in which case You Know The Answer). If you get errors, then
replace the bad RAM.
