bug when clicking on "send/receive" button

Hi,
I have never yet been able to use outlook as when I click on the button
send/receive, I receive an error message telling me that an "object" is
missing. Not knowing what is being talked about and what "object" could be
missing, I could not get any further. I bought a book about Outlook but don't
find any references about this. I am pretty new at this and if someone could
help me sort it out, I'd be very pleased. Like what is an "objet" in outlook
language, to start with!
 
What is your version of Outlook? Start of with a new profile in Control
Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...
