When I'm browsing the internet, IE will act like I have
held down CTRL or Shift, and then highlight everything on a
page when I click somewhere. It also messes with
links--like if I click somewhere it won't go to that page,
it will pop up with a new window with an error message.
None of the other programs on my computer are affected like
this one. Also occasionally I will get that circular
"flash" signal like it's taking a screen shot or something.
anybody have any ideas?

What kind of mouse do you have? It sounds like you've enabled "Show location
when I press the CTRL key" in Start > Programs > Microsoft Mouse > Pointer
Options.

It also sounds like you have a sticky or flaky CTRL key on your keyboard.

This happens to me on some pages that use frames. Generally I only have to
move the mouse cursor a little and click again.
