Blurry Images in Internet Explorer

When I browse the internet using any web browser (but prefer Internet
Explorer), the images appear blurry. When I hover the image, a note shows
the following text:

"...shift+r improves the quality of this image. ctrl+f5 reloads the whole
page."

Is there any way to adjust this so the images appear in their best quality
whenever a page loads instead of having to constantly use the shift+r utility?

Thanks.

By any chance, do you have one of those dial-up services that promises
'speeds as fast as broadband'?

Sounds like you have one of those "high speed dialup" connections". They get their "high speed" by
compressing all the files and graphics before they send them. This significantly reduces the
quality of the pictures. The keyboard shortcuts they offer you by-pass the file compression (and
by-pass any speed advantage).

Hi Jeff :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, nor the type of connection you
are using (i.e. Dial-up, DSL, Cable), but, try the following as it may apply
to your OS and see if it helps:

First - If you have an accelerator supplied by your ISP try turning it off.
It works by reducing image size (and therefore quality) for downloads.

Try clearing the IE cache. IE>Tools>Options>General>Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

Zone Alarm Pro can block Images in IE

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low
2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low
3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

If still no joy.....

Hope this helps.

Ted, Richard & Jan,

Thanks for your replies.

I am using XP.

My internet is (yes), Sprint wireless air card offering "broadband-like"
speeds. I tried adjusting the compression settings and even talked with a
Sprint techie over the phone but still no luck.

I guess it's not worth the $50 a month, even for a little mobility.

Any other ideas on how to adjust the settings or go deeper into Windows and
the installed components?

Thanks again.

Turn off the Web Accelerator they gave you.
