buffer underrun

i keep getting a buffer underrun when i try to burn a disk. ive tried to defrag, run only the burning software, slowed the write speed to the min. and it still occures and ruins all my disk. all the disk that are ruined are burned to the same spot. the drive has no problem reading cdrom, cd-r, and cd-rw, dvd and audio cds. what are possible solutions to this delema?

One possible solution is to terminate all other applications before you
start burning.
