Buffer Overrun

Guest

When I am in internet Explorer and go to google.com, and put in my search
item and hit the search button, I get the following message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!

Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's
internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be
terminated.

I have to exit IE and then go back into it and back to google.com and it
works...

Any suggestions on what I can try to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!!

I found a site that talks about it.
Are you back leveled in maintenance? This article
discusses a fix that's almost two years old.

The other possibilty is that you have a virus or other
malware.

Any other suggestions? I do appreciate it...

Check the event viewer for related logged messages.
If there's something there, it may lead to a solution.

A second thought is to run SFC /SCANNOW.
(In case there's a corrupt file somewhere)

Dave,
I tried the SFC /SCANNOW and it found 6 files that it had to restore...
I didn't see anything in the event manager either...
But, I am still getting the same Buffer Overrun error...

Any more thoughts! I do appreciate the help!

I am having the exact same problem that Eric is having primarily when I try
to start a Google search, but recently the problem is happening when I try to
open a web page directly. I receive an error message that says "Microsoft
Visual C++ Runtime Library Buffer overrun detected PRogram C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" then I'm kicked off of IE. Eric, have
you found any solution. Dave's solutions don't work for me either.

Jill, I still am having the problem. Everything I have tried still doesn't
work...

Jill or Eric,

I'm having the same issues and have not been able to fix it. Did you have
any luck.

Thanks, Brian

Brian,

I was never able to resolve the issue. Shortly after my last posting, my
hard drive crashed and I ended up having to get a new computer.....

Good Luck!

Eric
