buffer overrun

Hope someone will be able to help.The following is step
by step occurrance, using windows xp, register on net, to
my pictures, select file, select email this folder files,
select make pictures smaller, I then recieve the
following message, Microsoft VisualC++Runtime Libtrary
Buffer overrun detected Program C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.Exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted
the program's internal state. The program cannot safely
continue exedcution and must now be terminated. I click
ok,takes me to my sign in page for email.Thank you so
much for any aide in resolving this problem.

You need to do a test on your hard drive,see if you have
a checker on your computer,my H/P is start-all programs-
hewlett packard-pc tools-PC Doctor for XP,select
diagnostic,select hard drive(it may over-run
buffering,causing an error in the app. making it
close.Large files like picture,high speed games would be
affected by a problem like this).Hope you have some type
of diagnostic tool from your computer manufacturer,if not
somewhere on best buys web site they have checker tools
you can use,for hard drive,memory,processore.
