BTIEIN Registry entry - cannot delete

K

Ken

I am unable to manually delete or change a registry value
in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:SOFTWARE ==>/BTIEIN/.. which is
being flagged by program AD-AWARE 6.0 as a vulnerability.
Tried closing all unecessary active services and still
unable to modify. Any tips on how to get rid of this ?

Ken,

Try Spybot S&D and see if it will get rid of it. If Spybot can't, it'll ask
you if you want it to run when you reboot and then it can scan before any of
that junk can start.

Ken;
You've got a nasty one. SCUMBAGS!!!

If this doesn't work for you. And it may NOT. To manually
remove this PARASITE looks like it could be a lot of work.

This seems to be HuntBar by the way. EVIL!
[Ad-Aware reffile and Spybot S&D can remove HuntBar variants other
than BTLink, BTIn and SToolbar.]

Go here: Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.2
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download
Download, install, run and update.

Go here: SpywareBlaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
[SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it
prevents it from ever being installed.]
Download, install, run and update.

Thanks Matt & Wesley - I was able to modify permissions in
registry (seems my son's gaming was the root cause as he
was owner)and finally delete...also installed Spybot and
found a few other things !

I have the same problem...but what registry permissions did you
modify?...I didn't know there were such permissions. I'm already an
administrator.

Jason;
Windows key + R | type: regedit | OK
Right click a key | Permissions... | Look around.

Or better yet;
Windows key + R | type: regedit | OK
Click Help | Index | type: permissions | Display button | Have a look at the
listings.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:SOFTWARE would be my guess on
what Ken had to change Permissions. It's the key he mentioned in his first
post.
