BSOD

When I start XP Pro, I am getting the BSOD just after the opening XP Window
(the one with the little blue bar running r to l) with the message
"Unmountable_Boot_Volume". I have added no new hardware or software and the
computer is not connected to the internet. Shadow Caching, as far as I can
tell, is not enabled (and I have never had this problem before anyway).
Any ideas on how to resolve this please?
