I'm trying to do an upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and ALWAYS get the
same error...... at exactly 21% of (expanding, extracting.... what is it? )
files it goes to a BSOD with the message machine_check_exception . It does
this twice then continues but as it's starting for the first time it reboots
and restores XP saying the install failed. ARGHHHH .

I ran the advisor and removed any offending software prior to the install.
I've been working on this issue since Tuesday and have removed peripherals
one at a time and attempted the install with the exact same results at least
20 times and always at the exact same point, 21%. I ran all the betas ith the
same hardware configuration and had no issues BTW. My system specs are :
ECS KN1 SLI Extreme MB
2 gigs Corsair XMS ram
Thermaltake 600 W Power Supply
Athalon XP 4800+ Dual Core processor (water cooled)
Nvidia 7900 GTX ( water cooled)
4 Sata 2 HD's: 500 gig Toshiba (boot drive) 2 340 gig Sygate storage drives
and a WD 500 gig game drive. LG Lite Scribe DVD/CD on IDE, Lite On 16x DVD/CD
IDE.
Peripherals: Epson CSX 5400 (USB), Epson 900 (USB), Garmin iQue 3600 GPS in
a USB docking cradle

I've removed all virus scanners and spyware tools. All video drivers etc and
it still repeats the same error at the exact same spot.

I may have located the culprit and now need some help please. I read the
install log files and found "falied" for Silicone Image SCSI/Raid! It IS in
device manager but I'm not running raid at all. How do I remove it ? Deleting
it only has it return upon refreshing for changes. Raid is turned off in my
bios but there IS a spalsh screen to configure raid on boot now....... never
noticed it before. HELP please ???
