I'm trying to upgrade XP home to Vista Home Premium, the install seems to
work fine until the final boot when it appears to try and load vista. I then
get a BSOD with the error 0x0000007F and it reverts back to XP. Help.

How did the Vista compatibility report turn out??? Did you run that before
you attemoted an upgrade???

The upgrade advisor didn't find any problems. When I innstalled Vista I ran
the compatibility check and it suggested that I might have to update my RAID
drivers but I don't use RAID and it is disabled in the BIOS.

You are best off disconnecting hardware you don't need for the upgrade. You
also need to uninstall any low level processing programs (kernel level),
like anti-virus, firewalls, etc regardless of whether they are on the
upgrade advisor. Sometimes it is necessary to uninstall the video card
driver and let it default to the included driver and install the latest
driver later.
