BSOD on login problem

I have a system running Windows 2000 Server that blue screens with every attempted login. The exact error is as follows

***STOP: 0x0000001E (0XC0000005, 0X8051C8B7, 0X00000000, 0X00000FF8) KMODE_EXECPTION_NOT_HANDLED ADDRESS 8051C8B7 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3df90c0d - ntoskrnl.ex

The error happens immediately after clicking OK on the login screen. The error always occurs in Safe Mode, but only occurs in Normal mode if the network connection is plugged in during startup. I can login to the system in Normal mode without a network connection. However, any action seems to cause the system to freeze (i.e. Control Panels, Device Properties, etc). The server also restarts if a login attempt is made through Terminal Server

No updates, patches, or drivers were recently installed on the system. If this is a driver problem, how can I go about determining the exact source

Thank you in advance for any help anyone may be able to provide.

I would probably do this:

- Boot the system with the Win2000 Server CD
- Select "Install" when prompted (not Repair).
- Select "Repair" when prompted again, and install
the system on top of the existing installation.
- Re-apply the latest Service Pack.

This method will preserve your current settings.
