BSoD on install

[BSoD victim]

I have an AMD machine that is currently running 2K. Now,
when I try to do a fresh install of 2K or XP... I get the
following BSoD:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Stop: 0x0000000A( 0xF94A619E, 0x00000002, 0x00000001,
0x807EB6F0 )

This BSoD pops up right after the "Starting Windows"
screen. The Continue screen comes up... prompting the
user to press Enter, and then 2 seconds later (before
Enter is pressed), the BSoD comes up :-(

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
