BSOD and Shutdowns on Vista HP

Hi, I'm on Vista Home Prem. I was just bragging in another post how this
upgrade install was more stable.

Anyways, usually my computer has been coming out of sleep mode better than
usual, but now I got a BSOD and an automatic restart. It then took 2 manual
restarts for Vista to boot successfully - it seems to restart ok at first
then freezes as the sign in screen comes up. It'll say "Please Wait..." and
boy do you wait, because nothing happens.

I read the post about dis-abling the automatic restart so I can at least see
the error listed on the blue screen and jot it down, so I have already
disabled the automatic restart for the system failure.

Is there anything else I can do? I checked the problems/solutions area and
the Intell Away Mode Driver is always listed there but I am current on all
my windows updates and they are also set to automatically update.

I appreciate any suggestions or help.

Thanks, Frank

You can check the manufacturer's websites for the latest drivers for all you
devices; that means going to the specific websites such as Intel to check
for the latest drivers as Windows Update rarely has the latest available
drivers.

Thanks for the push there. Indeed I did check and my Nvidia graphics card
did not have the latest driver and in fact, upon installing the driver from
their website, it had to uninstall the present driver first and do a
restart.

So I had to do 2 restarts (in some cases, one must do even more restarts if
2 or more incorrect drivers have to be uninstalled); I'm crossing my fingers
but I can already sense that this has cleared some things up for the better.
Many Thanks, Frank

You're welcome, Frank.
