browsing problem

hi can anybody help ,while browsing certain websites that
have pictures on them the picture is just shown as a box
with a red arrow in the top leftcorner.i know this is a
picture because when i use my other computer upstairs the
pictures are shown.upstairs i have windows 98 and
recently re loaded so still quite fresh.this is on a
router to my downstairs pc laptop which is brand new and
has xp which is also still fresh ,i have a program
missing but cannot find any help .thanks for any help

Are you using a Firewall or "filtering software"?

Several of these are known to cause problems:
1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled?]
Reset "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" to "medium"
"Mobile Code Control" = Off

2) Symantec (ISS\NIS)[Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"
Problem: some sites cannot detect the 128 bit encryption
Solution: Completely remove and reinstall NIS.

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) HOSTS file that contains entries that are blocking access to the desired
site.
Symptom: Page cannot be displayed / Cannot find server or DNS Error

In the event you can not access a site or missing graphics and
you believe it may be due to an entry in the HOSTS file.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".

5) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.
