Hi all

At 1st I thought this was a problem with IE 6 but after loading Opera
and Firebird they are also having a problem.

When a link calls up a 2nd copy of Internet Explorer it runs fine but
when I close that copy of IE the original copy is frozen. Also when I
open the 1st copy of IE or any others there is a system "ding" sound.
Yes, DING is what it is listed as under Sounds. :-) This also happens
sometimes with Outlook Express.

When I loaded Opera & Firebird they ran better but Firebird has frozen
up twice and Opera, although it has never frozen, it will not shut
down properly. I found 3 copies of Opera running under the Task
Manager. So thinking this was a clue I have also found copies of
iexplore running when nothing was on the desktop.

I have run AdAware, SpyBot S&D, Spy Sweeper and SpyBlaster all
with their latest updates. Nothing found.

I have done complete system scans with Nortons Web scan, Nortons
AV 2004 and AVG....nothing.

So what would cause browsers to unload on the desktop yet not unload
as a running service????

I'm sure everyone will leap right in to help you now that you've
demonstrated what a great person you are.

Oh I see.....they spent the week working on the problem.
Typical of these M$ newsgroups....canned responses
or no response at all.
