Browsers and more browsers..

Hi all,

I'm faffing around with browsers - Avant, Firefox, Maxthon & Greenbrowser.

They're all very good but I find Firefox just a tad quirky as I like
tabs, the FF ones seem to work in a slightly different manner.

Maxthon appears to be really good but whenever I go back to Avant I feel
this is the one.

Is there anything I'm overlooking or should be taking into
consideration. These things have come a long way in the past couple of
years imho.

You missed Opera, K-Mellon,
I would suggest that you look at
http://bcheck.scanit.be/bcheck/
and see how your browsers do. I test Mozilla, and it had no
holes, I then tested Maxthon to find that it has some
critical problems.. Your choice I guess...

The site detected my Firefox 093, clicked tests specific to my browser, got this
message:
Not Found
The requested URL /bcheck/sid-8a9834e6cb5da26d98a919a44516cdd4cript.php was not
found on this server.

Surprising, since FF 093 has been around for awhile.

Just gave Maxthon the test and it came out 100% OK.

I would recommend you wait for firefox 1.0 or use a nighty after 5th
October, since they have "single window" mode which uses tabs only.

Out of the box, I'd agree with you. Install an extension called Tabbrowser
Extensions and FF's tabs work great, IMO.

I personally prefer FF because of it's cookie management . Tab
browsing is no problem as per previous posts .

Another IE based browser , which has'nt been mentioned & is very ,
very good is > Ace Explorer .
I use Cookie Wall & Cache Sentry for any IE engined browsers .

====================================

CacheSentry
http://www.enigmaticsoftware.com/cachesentry/index.html
http://www.enigmaticsoftware.com/
This is a program that fixes serious bugs in the Internet Explorer
cache manager (versions 3.0
on up through and including Internet Explorer for Windows XP, and
IE6). This program basically
takes over the job of managing the cache from Internet Explorer, and
the result is your web
browsing session will be more enjoyable. CacheSentry isn't like those
"web acceleration"
programs that hook into IE and attempt to make guesses about your
browsing habits. CacheSentry
simply does a better job of removing files from the cache, and fixes a
few other bugs present in most versions of Internet Explorer.

I am getting nervous, It seems that I have a problem where it
comes to IE.. I a previous post about pcAudit I thought I'd
be secure, but apparently not. I am using Sygate, so I will
look into this situation more closely..

Sure but I'm talking of native support which has various advantages over
extensions.

Or this

or this

TBP

Window-Q

or this

or Peite Tab browser

:)

Yes, I'm aware of them , but each as various minor problems, and in any
case, the function being intergreted into firefox will be faster and
more efficient.

No, I was only joking on the name :)
I don't know anything more...

Yes, I'm not him.
