Browser will not respond

Hello, I am using Internet Explorer 6 sp1, but these same
problems were present on my earlier version. I cannot get
IE to close using the red x, or exit from the menu. I have
to use task manager to close it. Also, when I go to the
Windows Update page, the screen that shows it is analyzing
my computer never goes away, and in fact...freezes up. I
have recently, according to the instructions, just removed
the Blaster and Wilchea viruses. Problem still persists.
I have tried to uninstall IE and reinstall the latest
version clean....still no help. I have also gone to the
control panel and tried to repair IE...no help again. I'm
at a loss now...any help? Thanks in advance!

Gary,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
