Browser Plugin Disallows IE updates

Hi,
My son downloaded a Browser Plugin to Internet Explorer
5.0 that placed a search link (even though I had the Google
search bar)
It of course only looks at that vendors sites, Ilook.com

I have tried to uninstall IE but the Uninstall exec is
gone. If I try to download a new version, it won't install
and says that the "System has a newer version" than the one
I'm trying to download. I have IE 5.0 I was trying to
download IE 6.0.
Another error message that briefly flashes up says it
"cannot ascertain the status of the update.inf file"
I also cannot post messages to this website unless I use
netscape. the pop up form is blank, no name email subject
or message box.
Can anybody help with this one.

Check your system for "hijackware":

Dealing with Hijackware

http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

HijackThis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the
preferred tool to use these days. It will help to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
