*** My apologies if this is in the wrong group, I couldn't find a
Win2003 Server group ***

I just installed Win2003 Server onto my laptop with a fresh disk
reformat. My problem (well, more like curiosity) is that the first
time I open IE it takes about 15 seconds to load my default web page.
Is this symptomatic of some other network setup issue? Is there an
easy way to debug this?

TIA

My Environment
================
Home network, Linksys router, Cable Modem. The laptop is part of my
domain that is controlled by a Win2K Domain Controller.

Mark,

check your DNS settings and IP netmasks.
I've seen DNS extensions being wrong causing this kind of behaviour.

Thanks Paul for the ideas. Since I have my Linksys router acting as
my DHCP server my TCIP/IP setting are (1) obtain IP address
automatically and (2) obtain DNS server address automatically. I'll
try hard coding these and see if that helps but in the meantime, do
you have an further ideas on utilities or techniques that I could try
to isolate the problem?

Hey, just noticed that when I open WordPad I seem to get the same
delay. Could there be a general network issue here as each of these
EXE's is trying to access the file system and there's a global problem
with my MS network?? How do I isolate??????

TIA for any ideas.
