Browser opens multiple windows spontaneously

Just recently when connected to a network or DSL my web
browser begins to open multiple (many 15+) windows that
are blank or have jiberish in the address field. Any ideas
what might be causing this?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
