Browser lost search capability

When I click search, I get page not found. When I enter a
known search site, such as www.google.com, i get page not
found. On a second pc at home, i do not have this
problem. Only system changes have been the download of
the auto updates for xp home edition, and my firewall is
enabled. i suspect a virus of some kind, but never head
of one doing this.

Can you access any WWW sites, ie. are you accessing this
newsgroup from the same computer?

Can you ping Google?

Have you tried rebooting the system, and reconnecting to
the Internet?

Be sure that you install hotfix 828750 which fixes the exploit that this
virus uses:
