BROWSER is slow as crap...what to do??

I've noticed any page I go to that the page has the long pause even
after it seems to have loaded the whole page.
Also, when it starts to load there is a 5-10 seconds [wait time]?

I've tried sites I go to a lot and also tried random pages I have
never been to and they all have this extreme lag.

I'm using comcast cable broadband.
I'm using Mozilla 1.7.12 and sometimes firefox
RARELY use IE

Any hard drive activity during the delay? If so, you may need to install
more memory. Respond with the amount of RAM installed on your computer.

1gig of ram, 80gig hard drive, already flushed the cache in the
browser, happens on mozilla, firefox and IE

I am on cable broadband also.;
