browser is retarded

My internet explorer browser went bonkers a little over a
week ago and now it cannot and will not connect reliably
with most web pages or sites. The message "syntax error"
keeps posting whenever I open internet explorer and the
only way I can go anywhere is if I go to MSN's homepage
and search online from there. This is thoroughly
annoying, a waste of my time and inconvenient. I want to
know how to get my browser back to normal working order.
I can't even change the homepage setting without it
reverting to syntax error mode every single time! This
does not appear to be a virus, I have checked. I am
frustrated and feel like a retard!

update and scan on the easy mode
looks for any spyware or hijackers and cleans known ones out .

This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
