browse another computers shared folders

Hi ng -
Using win xp pro and win 2k pro
Both set to workgroup "apple" (w/o quotes)
Going through linksys switch
mac is 192.168.1.9
fuji is 192.168.1.100
cannot ping
cannot browse shares on mac from fuji

can you browse fuji from the mac?, have you got internet
access from either of the machines ?(i assume you have an
internet connection from them)

The first thing that springs to mind is that there may be
a firewall in the way. Disable xp's built in firewall (it
should be anyway if you are sharing the connection) also
disable/uninstall any 3rd party firewalls then try
browsing/pinging - if it works then, it's the firewall
causing the problem and needs reconfiguring.

There are other possible causes - bad/mis-installed
network cards, bad cables/ports on switch etc, but
without further information about what you can and can't
do it's difficult to say.
