Hi!

I try to transfer my Access Database of clients that i have on a computer
running Windows XP and an other running Windows Vista. I have linked some
compressed files to some clients in a Ole Object field. These compressed
files are kept in the same folder than the Access database. But after
tranfer of the database on my computer running Vista, I can't open the
linked compressed files since the Windows structure changed in Vista and
than Windows keep the old path of these files. So, I get the message:
"Windows can't open the file ...".

Someone have an idea to open these files and retablish the links?

Thanks!

"Can't open" is an entirely different message than "Can't find..".

Which are you getting? If you are actually getting "Can't open.." then I
don't think you have a file path issue.

Are the Office versions the same on both machines? If not, what are they?
Could this be the Picture Viewer issue? Picture Viewer came with versions of
Office before ?2002/XP? (not sure the version) but not with later versions.
Any app that assumed Picture Viewer would be there to automatically view
files subsequently broke on newer installations. I'm guessing that they
broke with a "Can't open.." message.

Hi Mister Nicholson,

Your right! The difference is important. The message I get is:
"Windows can't find:
'C:\DOCUME~1\Michel\MESDOC~1\Bureau\Fichiers\ANNEXE~\CONTRA~4.zip\'. Verify
that you have the right name and try again."

The path on XP is: C:\Documents and Settings\Michel\Mes
Documents\Bureau\Fichiers
and on Vista: C:\Utilisateurs\Michel Jacob\Documents\Bureau\Fichiers.

I can't change the name folders on Vista of the "Utilisateurs" and "Michel
Jacob" to try to give the same path than on XP because there is no command
name "Rename" when I right-click on these folders.

So, how can make than Windows find my link files?

Thanks!
