Are you in a big built up area like London/Manchester/Birmingham? If so, some ISPs like Be or Bulldog might go up to 24MB, but otherwise you will be limited to 8MB - try typing your number into somewhere like http://www.solo.pipex.net/ and see what it says :thumb:

I'm in Manchester City Centre and stuck at 1MB for now on most services, unless I opt for ADSL Max.

Says with Pipex that i can have up to 4.5mb Broadband on estimate.
I assume the other providers have tests which estimate your speed, am i right?

Pipex is great - been with them for over 2 years and have never had a single problem.

Cough plusnet cough

They seem to be cheaper than Pipex.. and since you live in roughly the same area as me, then it is another good option by the looks of it.

ahhh so much choice, what to do?

Be warned ... that WILL be an over-estimate, look at it as 2Mbit and you will then not be disappointed ... oh, and that will also apply to whoever the ISP is.

I spoke to the horse directly. ;)

I put all my customers on to Plusnet. Very reliable and fast too.
