broadband multiple modems?

Hi
I have broadband to my pc and wish to connect it to another pc in a
different room. Can i just buy another adsl modem and replicate the setup on
the second pc, and if s, can both be used at the same time? I would rather
not set up a network and share the connection that way.
Thanks

It would work but you couldn't use them at the same time. Most ISP's won't
allow you to log in to the same account twice. The only way to use them at
the same time is to get a router and network them.

You'll need a router which supports the login method used by your ISP. Not
all routers do, so check before you buy (if you aren't sure, use the
manufacturers' website, don't take a salesperson's word for it.)

Many broadband isp's now offer a router type modem. Granted it is offered
at an extra cost and goes on as long as you use that type setup. It is much
more economical to buy your own router and set up the network as this is a
one time cost.

Or - have one permanently on, connected to the Internet then across a
crossover Ethernet or Wireless local network, use Internet Connection
sharing to provide access from the other
