Greetings --

Have you consulted your ISP? They should be able to help you
troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Name one hotfix that's been documented to cause such a problem.

You say "broad band" but, you didn't say what kind. In the case of cable,
sometimes the company oversells in a given area and the signal degrades to a
point where you will lose it.

This happened to me. The only way I was able to stay connected was to
install an amplifier on my line. This isn't fair, I know, but that's the way
it is. The cable company should have to provide a strong enough signal to
maintain the service you are paying for without you having to pay another
$50 for an amplifier.

I bought mine from Radio Shack. (Errrrrr!)

I bought one from Radio Shack also, but it didn't seem to help. I spent
about two weeks on and off with phone support from my ISP before they sent
someone out to trouble shoot. They installed their own amplifier which
worked. Haven't had any problems since then. The tech told me the
amplifier needs to amplify the signal in both directions. The one from
Radio Shack only amplifies the incoming signal.

Cheers
