Bootup

My PC on bootup used to open directly onto my Desktop. After recent
Microsoft Automatic Updates it now requires a click to proceed with the
bootup.
How can I eliminate this unwelcome alteration and revert my bootup procedure
to what it was before?

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Autologon.

Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>"Change the way users log on or off"

Uncheck "Use the Welcome screen"
