Bootup Discs for XP

Thanks to all who explained how to make a startup disc.
I have the original Windows 98SE CD-ROM & the XP Home Ed.
Xp Upgrade CD-ROM. Would I have to install each in
sequence should I ever need to reboot?

No.

You can boot from the XP upgrade CDROM (set your BIOS to boot from CD) and
run setup.
You will be prompted to insert the Win98 CD briefly to verify eligibility
for upgrade.

No the upgrade cd can do a clean install, no need for win98 to be installed
first.

No - provided you have a 'retail' 98 CD, with a win98 folder containing
..cab files, you can boot the XP CD, do a new install, including
formatting, and when it asks where windows is to be found show it that
98 CD in the drive. This does not work with OEM 'restore' or 'recovery'
CDs that do not have that folder for the setup to check. Those you have
to run the setup *from* a restored 98, but can still do a reformat in
the process if you wish - once you have got to that point the check has
been made
