I have vista ultimate and when I turn on the
computer, I get the message
"BOOTMGR is compressed"
I tried running the vista CD recovery, but i still
got the same message, then I did a complete
reinstall and still got the same message.
I have a drive "C' that I did the reinstall on...
and I have a drive"D"...should I run the install on that
also? or what should I be doing?
thanks for your help

What are the attributes of the drive? Is C on a different physical drive
than D? When you re-installed did you delete the partition and re-create
and format it?

HI
C & D are on the same drive and I didnt delete & format anything. I
just ran the vista CD. I think it asked if i wanted to repair or
just install & on which drive to install....I will try again though, that
will help? thanks again!!

You're welcome.  Nice to hear you have it working.  No bother, either..
# Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then
start the computer.
# Press a key when you are prompted.
# Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another
input method, and then click Next.
# Click Repair your computer.
# Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click
Next.
# In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
# Type Bootrec /FixMBR, and then press ENTER.
# Type Bootrec /FixBOOT, and then press ENTER.
