Booting Widows XP from USB Drive

Hi Folks,
Is it possible to install Windows (XP/2000/98) on usb Drive., in other words
can I boot My windows Os from USB drive, (My Bios allows booting from USB)...
Is it possible if yes plz give me detailed answer,,,

also what is the min storage requirement for windows XP on USB..

It is not supported by Microsoft, yet.

Linux or DOS will boot

Windows XP needs about 1.5 GB whether you have it on USB or IDE or whatever.

I saw a claim that if you pulled the IDE hard disk out of the USB enclosure,
put it in a a PC attached to the IDE bus and then installed windows, you
could put it back into the USB enclosure and boot from it. I can't verify
that. Might give it a try next weekend.

It will fail - as the boot device will have moved from the IDE bus back to
the USB bus. Windows doesn't support booting from the USB bus. WinPE,
however, will work - in it's latest incarnation.

Bear in mind given the limited number of writes allowed on a flash drive,
Windows on a flash drive is a bit of device torture...

Windows XP can only be installed on an internal drive,
not an external USB drive.
