booting W2K from D:

After having probs with W2K in C: I setup a copy in D:
this was fine until I decided to re-format C: to make some
space.
Should there be some file in C: to tell it that W2K is now
in D: ? I don't want to lose any settings or data

the boot.ini file in c:\ contian the boot message of your multi
system
for example the boot.ini

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003,
Enterprise" /fastdetect
C:\="Previous Operating System on C:"

I don't actually want a multi OS system, just to boot from
D: (which is a fast 20GB HDD) and I don't like the idea of
swapping ribbon cables around.

I want get rid of the boot error msg :
"invalid BOOT.INI file Booting from C:\winnt"

{C: partition is on another HDD and is empty! but W2K on
D: loads and runs OK - am I being picky?)

Again, I'm scared of losing settings and data (eg emails,
address book etc) if I have to re-install W2K

any help appreciated
Philip
