Booting up from Windows XP CD stoped finding my existing Windows

Hello!
Windows XP boot CDs stoped finding my existing Windows XP on my HDD after a
Windows XP boot CD tried to repair my existing Windows XP by reinstallation.
It wrote that an arror has occurred and I should contact Microsoft, at the
end
of file copying. 'Bootcfg /rebuild' in the Recovery console stoped finding my
existing Windows XP too. How to recover my existing Windows XP? I removed a
PCI USB card which caused the error at the reinstallation, ran chkdsk c: /p
and /r, which did not find any errors, fixboot c: in the Recovery console,
which did not help too. However, the Recovery console offers me to select my
existing Windows installation c:\windows at the Recovery console startup.
Best regards,
Dima

Back up any data by using a rescue system such as Knoppix or a Bart's PE
and clean-install Windows.

Frankly, from your description of the state of the computer, I don't
think you can. I think you're going to need a clean install. But don't
take my word for it - I can't see your computer. Take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA) for a hands-on diagnosis.

Thanks Malke for your recommendation!
I don't know a professional computer repair shop in Moscow, which knows
Windows better than gurus in these groups.
I can see my computer. I can tell you everything about it. What you need to
know to make a Windows XP boot cd find my existing Windows XP?

Sorry, but you can't tell me everything about your computer that I need
to know. I would have to look at the machine and much as I'd like to
see Moscow, that isn't possible. If you can't find a computer repair
person in Moscow - which I find very unlikely as Moscow is a very large
city and there are many extremely skilled people in your country - then
bite the bullet and clean-install Windows as suggested.

I really don't have anything more to say about this. I'm sorry that your
computer is in a state, but this happens sometimes. That is why having
a good backup and recovery strategy is necessary.

In addition to what I said in my last post, you should post your issues
clearly on one of the Russian MS newsgroups for Windows. Here is a list
of all the MS newsgroups - scroll down to the section on Russia:

http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

You will be able to explain your issues in your own language and,
although Russia is a huge country, there is a good chance that someone
on the Russian newsgroup(s) will be able to recommend a local
professional to you.

You are welcome in Moscow. I can be your guide in Moscow.
I don't know a computer repair person in Moscow, who knows how to make the
Windows XP CD find my existing Windows XP.
At what in the machine would you look?

Thanks Michael Stevens for your link.
It seems that my problem is caused by my mainboard Chaintech 6btm, Promise
Ultra 100 TX2 PCI card and 250 gb EIDE HDD, connected to the mainboard at
first and the PCI card now. I am trying to use the latest unsigned Promise
Ultra 100 TX2 driver now. The clean Windows installation asks me now to allow
two unknown unsigned softwares.
Best regards,
Dima

Hello.
It seems that my problem is caused by my mainboard Chaintech 6btm, Promise
Ultra 100 TX2 PCI card and 250 gb EIDE HDD, connected to the mainboard at
first and the PCI card now. I am trying to install the Windows XP SP2 using
the latest unsigned Promise Ultra 100 TX2 driver now. The clean Windows
installation asked me now to allow two unidentified unsigned softwares. The
Windows installation showed that 4 minutes had left, restarted for a minute,
restarted again and wrote that the last boot was unsuccessful, asked to
choose a mode: Safe or Normal. I chose the Normal, Windows booted for 30
seconds, then restarted again and asked to choose the mode again in a loop.
How to install the Windows successfuly?
Best regards,
Dima

I could save my previous Window installation by disagreeing with Microsoft to
use its driver for my Promise Ultra 100 TX2! I clean-installed successfully
only after using a driver from the Promise. I agreed to install two unsigned
softwares: one without a name and the driver from the Promise.
Best regards,
Dima
