Booting problems

Mike

Recently I have been experiencing a similar problem on
different systems in different locations. Windows XP will
go thru it's normal boot sequence anfd in the middle will
stop and reboot. I have tried safe mode and last known
good configuration but nothing works. At first I thought
it might be a virus, but I am seeing this issue on systems
that have had no contact with the outside or an internal
network.

If I start in safe mode the system seems to get to the
line referring to AGP440.sys after that it reboots.

One more thing I am seeing this happen on Windows 2000
systems also.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike,

I am having the exact same issue with an IBM 600E
Thinkpad running XP-SP1. .

I have tried LKG, Safe Mode, etc...nada. I am out of
ideas and willing to resort to messing with the recovery
console. Check out this KB article "How to Recover from a
Corrupted Registry That Prevents Windows XP from
Starting" <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;[LN];307545>
I don't know if that's the problem or may be some errant
service/device but I'm tired of endlessly rebooting at
this point.

Let me know if you find anything, if I get anywhere
myself I'll let you know also.

Good Luck,
Tony
