Booting problem

I have a Windows XP machine that a server pushed the SP1 update. Now the XP
machine will not boot..
Error reads
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
\winnt\system32\config\system

It states I can do a repair from the first repair screen, but I do not know
how to do that at the command prompts.
Am I going to have to reimage or reload?

Richard, you have a problem with the Registry. You can attempt a Repair.

Rich, I think it is an OEM version.. can I still attempt it?
