Boot Up Problem

I installed a second hard drive on my Dell using Win XP. For 2 or 3 months
the drive worked perfectly and I used it to backup some critical files.
Recently, upon bootup, I get a message "Secondary hard drive 1 not found.
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility". My main drive C is
drive 0. Drive 1 shows in the "tree" and functions as perfectly as before.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this message so my bootup is
continuous? Thanks in advance for your help.
