Boot up Problem - Help

Guest

when booting Windows XP i am getting an error message:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The session manager initializing system setup process terminated 0xc0000034
unexpectedly with a status of (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down

The system keeps rebooting itself when it gets to this message. I tried
booting up in Safe Mode but still get the same message.

There is nothing that I really need on the hard drive so I am open to
completely reformating it if necesary. Please let me know if you have any
ideas on how to fix this problem.

Thank you!

In that you have no access to Safe Mode, a clean install may be your only
solution.

It very well may be that your only practical resource is to make a fresh
install of the OS. The fact that you can't get into Safe Mode is ominous,
but not necessarily fatal.

So before going that route, why not try a Repair install of the OS? If you
don't know how, do a Google search of "XP repair install" and you'll be
pointed to many web sites that have detailed instructions on performing
such. It's not terribly difficult or time-consuming and certainly worth a
try.

Also, it probably would be worthwhile to perform a diagnostic test on your
hard drive. After ascertaining the manufacturer of your hard drive, go to
their website and download their diagnostic software. Virtually every HD
manuf. provides this software for their models at no cost. The diagnostic
software (ordinarily a bootable floppy disk or CD) is relatively easy to
use.
