Boot up much slower after installing Norton Systemworks 2004

I just got a new laptop with Windows XP Pro. I was
really impressed by how fast it booted up (used to have
Window 2000). Then I installed Systemworks 2004 even my
friend advised against it. It dramaticaly slowed down
the boot up speed. The boot up time still doesn't
improve after I removed Systemworks. Any advice?
