When attempting to boot up my sony laptop, the windows xp logo comes up with
the scrolling bar working as usual. The computer then goes blank and starts
over again and will do this until I manually shut it off. I went to safe
mode and disabled the restart on error and attempted again, and got this
message:
STOP: c0000221 Bad Image Checksum UrlMon.dll

I can't boot up in safe mode of any kind, cannot boot up from last known
good configuration, and am unable to boot up from a CD either. What has
happened? I need to get into this system to recover some pictures that
cannot be replaced.

Please help!!!

You have a damaged file, URLMon.dll. Enter your system BIOS and set the
boot sequence/order to place the CD drive before the hard disk. Then run
Recovery Console from your O/S disk and copy the file.

If your laptop has a floppy drive then I might be able to help you by giving
you instructions on making a boot disk from XP.
