Boot up error message

Can someone tell me how to solve this? For the last few weeks, whenever I
boot up XP Pro, a window opens with "Windows cannot find
'C:\PROGRA~1\{INSTAL~1\{6675E~1\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name
correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button,
and then click Search.". Then, I click "OK" and all is fine. How can I solve
it? What does the tilde (~) mean?

Well, the ~ is there because it's reporting back the DOS filename. DOS only
allows files to have names with a max of 7 or 8 characters. (Forget Which).
The Tilde makes the filename legal for DOS. If you were to explore your C
drive in DOS or command prompt only you would see a lot of this.

I think the ~ is irrelevant. It's strange that windows is giving the
shorthand form of those directories but anyway. What you want to do is
find out why windows is looking for that file. Maybe search for a
reference to that file in the registry?
start..run..regedit<ENTER>

but first do start..run..msconfig<ENTER>
then go to 'startup' and see if it's there.

progra~1 is program files, so go into that directory, then go into
instal~1 e.t.c.
maybe the full name of instal~1 gives away what setup.exe is.

Hi,

Go to www.dougknox.com and click on WinXP Utilities, download and run Doug's
Startup tracker. You need to know where that is loading from, and this
should tell you. Post back with this information for further assistance.
